Little Movies

"Little Movies" was a concept CD where each song was paired with a genre of film. “Little Movies” is title song and the film noir - a sleazy song about a church going man patronizing a red light establishment.

Big Lessons

One morning in 1996 over coffee at the Radio Cafe on Woodland Street in East Nashville, I crossed paths with a very talented guy named John Wheeler. John had a studio on Boscobel Street in the historic Edge Hill neighborhood. The chit-chat over coffee was the jump-off point for my next 2 CD's. "Little Movies" was released in 1998 and "Big Lessons" in 2002.

THE SONGS ALONG THE WAY
This is a collection of songs written and recorded in Nashville, Tennessee between 1986 and 2002. I had the great fortune to have lived in Nashville between 1981 and 2004. This was back in the day when Nashville was a hip small town, southern city and Music Row was like a college campus. Long before the digital age when song writers met and swapped tapes and ideas in person in living rooms, offices and cars. I was young and naive and I learned a lot from the great Nashville song writers and musicians that had also re-located and set up shop in a musical mecca.
These songs document my time in Nashville but more importantly my personal growth and insight as a songwriter. The 15 songs on this project were carefully pulled from 5 musical projects I wrote, recorded and produced between 1986 and 2002. There is a story behind each title and each song is a short story or "little movie". I started this project with Terry Radigan back in 2016 but major health issues, financial set backs and a heavy work schedule got in the way. It is time to pick it up where I left off and get back on the horse. The kick off song on this collection of songs is a little ditty called" Another Day Down". I wrote "Another Day Down" in September of 1986 while I was working on a grounds crew on an Army base.in New Jersey. It was a bad time in my family history following a tragic car accident. I had to move back home to help out. This song is a bit of a theme song for me as even in my 60's I am still trying to "figure out what I want to be". This song ended up in both "The Total Picture" and on "Little Movies" as the documentary.

LITTLE MOVIES – 1998

"Little Movies" was a concept CD where each song was paired with a genre of film. “Little Movies” is title song and the film noir - a sleazy song about a church going man patronizing a red light establishment with a killer sax solo featuring Joe Turley. “Apache River” is the spaghetti western about a cattle drive caught in a flash flood and features Larry Chaney on guitar, Joe Turley on trumpet with Robert Jetton & John Wheeler as singing cowboys . “The Sequel” is about looking back and resolution. “Hey Tony” is the road movie... It is about escape... which is one of my continuous themes in my songwriting.
